Saudi Arabia’s Council of Ministers has approved a decision to absorb all taxes and customs fees imposed on live livestock shipments entering the Kingdom, covering the period from 1 Dhul Qi’dah 1447 AH — April 18, 2026 — through the conclusion of Hajj season 1447 AH.
The decision removes a financial barrier on the importation of sacrificial animals during Hajj — a period when demand for livestock rises sharply as pilgrims perform the ritual of Hady, the sacrificial offering that forms a required part of Hajj for many pilgrims.
By absorbing the taxes and customs costs at the government level, the Kingdom aims to ease the supply chain for live livestock and support stable pricing on sacrificial animals during one of the busiest and most logistically demanding periods of the Islamic calendar.
The waiver covers all applicable customs fees and tax charges on live animal shipments, including sheep, goats, cattle, and camels.
Relevant authorities have been directed to implement the decision smoothly and ensure timely clearance of consignments at entry points.
