Ramzaan Day 1 Dua: Start Ramadan with the Right Supplication
The holy month of Ramadan is a time of fasting, prayer, self-reflection, and supplication (dua). Beginning Ramadan with sincere dua helps set a spiritual tone for the rest of the month and draws a believer closer to Allah. (IslamiCity)
๐ What to Recite on the First Day
One traditional supplication attributed to the start of Ramadan is the Day 1 Ramadan Dua that asks Allah to make your fasting and worship sincere and accepted:
Arabic:

ูููู. (Alim)
Transliteration:
Allahumma ijสฟal siyami fihi siyama as-saโimina, wa qiyami fihi qiyama al-qaโiminaโฆ (Alim)
English Meaning:
โO Allah, on this day make my fast like the fast of those who truly fast, and my standing in prayer like the standing of those who truly stand (in prayer). Awaken me from the sleep of the heedless, forgive my sins today, O Lord of all the worlds, and pardon me, O one who pardons the sinners.โ (Alim)
This dua beautifully captures the spirit of Ramadan โ seeking sincerity in worship, spiritual alertness, forgiveness, and mercy. (Alim)
๐ฟ Intention (Niyyah) for Fasting
Before the dawn meal (suhoor), it is recommended to make the intention to fast. A simple Arabic niyyah that many recite is: (My Islam)
ููุจูุตูููู
ู ุบูุฏู ูููููููุชู ู
ููู ุดูููุฑู ุฑูู
ูุถูุงูู
Wa bisawmi ghadinn nawaiytu min shahri Ramadan
โI intend to fast tomorrow in the month of Ramadan.โ (My Islam)
This intention helps transform the act of abstaining from food and drink into an act of worship for Allah. (My Islam)
