Concerns Over Waqf Properties Spark Political Dialogue
The Central Governmentโs rapid push to pass the Waqf Amendment Bill has raised concerns about the protection of Waqf properties across India. In response, the Inamdar Mutawalli Sajjada & Trustee Federation (Waqf) has actively taken steps to address the issue.
On Saturday, a significant meeting took place between Syed Jameel Jani Miyan, State General Secretary of the Inamdar Mutawalli Sajjada & Trustee Federation (Waqf), and former MLA Arvind Chavan, the Jalna District President of the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction).
Key Highlights of the Meeting
1. Opposition to the Waqf Amendment Bill
During the meeting at Khasre Gareeb Nawaz, Jameel Maulana urged the NCP to oppose the bill in Parliament and protect the rights of the Muslim community. In response, Arvind Chavan immediately contacted senior NCP leaders and assured that a meeting with Deputy CM Ajit Pawar would be scheduled soon. Leaders of the Waqf Federation will also participate in this discussion.
Additionally, Federation President Ghaus Shirudkar was involved in the discussion via a phone call with Chavan.
2. Demand for Basic Amenities During Ramadan
Community representatives also raised concerns about the lack of essential facilities in Muslim-majority areas of Jalna, including:Dukhi Nagar,Millat Nagar and New Jalna & Old Jalna.
Arvind Chavan assured that he would coordinate with the administration to ensure necessary infrastructure improvements before the holy month of Ramadan.

3. Fair Representation in Municipal Elections
The discussion also focused on the political representation of the Muslim community in the upcoming Jalna Municipal Corporation elections. Jameel Maulana strongly advocated for proportional representation based on the Muslim population in the region.
