Jalna, in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra, has a long Sufi heritage. Its dargahs host Urs gatherings every year, with Sandal, Chadar, Quran Khwani, Milad, Langar and Qawwali, and people of all communities take part, a living example of the city’s Ganga-Jamuni culture. Hazrat Syed Ahmad Sher Sawar, Rajabagh
The Dargah of Hazrat Syed Ahmad Sher Sawar (Rahmatullah Alaih) at Rajabagh is one of the oldest in Jalna: its 748th Urs was held from 27 to 29 December 2025. The three-day Urs, under the patronage of the dargah’s Inamdar and Mutawalli Syed Jameel Ahmad Qadri Razvi, included Khatm-e-Khwajgan, Quran Khwani, Sandal and Chadarposhi, a Sunni Ijtema and the Dastarbandi (graduation) of students of the dargah’s Darul Uloom, and the ziyarat of sacred relics (tabarrukat) for men. Hazrat Syed Pir Gaibshah, Mantha Road
The Dargah of Hazrat Syed Pir Gaibshah (RA), also known as Gaibanshah Baba Pahadi Sharif, stands on Mantha Road. Its two-day annual Urs, held in 2026 on 5 and 6 October under the patronage of Syed Akhtar Ali Shah Husaini (Gadi Nashin, Sayegaon), includes Qul Sharif, Milad Sharif, Fatiha after Zuhr, Langar, Sandal after Asr, Quran Khwani and Bayan after Maghrib, and Mehfil-e-Sama after Isha. Hazrat Babullashah (Chhote Miyan Sahab Dargah)
The 354th annual Urs of Hazrat Babullashah Sahab was held on 22 June 2025. It began at 4 am with the Sandal ceremony; in the evening the traditional ghilaf procession, led as every year by the mujawars of the Chaudhary family, went from Astana Qadrabad to the Dargah, and at night the Chadar was offered on the Mazar. Hazrat Garib Shah Datar
The annual Urs of Hazrat Garib Shah Datar (RA) is held on 21 and 22 Rajab: Chadar is presented after Asr on the first day, and Quran Tilawat, a special Fatiha, a Noori Mehfil and a Bayan follow on the second. Hazrat Syed Nirgunshah Wali, Nidhona
In Nidhona village, next to Jalna city, the Urs of Hazrat Syed Nirgunshah Wali (RA) is known as an example of Hindu-Muslim unity. In 2026 it began on 10 April with Sandal Sharif after Asr, followed on 11 April by Langar after Maghrib, open to people of all faiths, and a night of qawwali. Sufi heritage around Jalna
Jalna is part of the wider Sufi heritage of the Deccan. About 85 km away lies Khuldabad, the Valley of the Saints, with the dargahs of Burhanuddin Gharib and Zainuddin Shirazi, disciples of the Chishti line of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya.
