₹2–3 Crore a Night: Shobhaa De Reveals the Stunning Daily Earnings of Shilpa Shetty’s Bastian

Mumbai: Mumbai’s luxury dining scene has once again grabbed headlines after writer and socialite Shobhaa De disclosed eye-popping nightly revenues at Bastian, the upscale restaurant co-owned by actress Shilpa Shetty. Speaking to Mojo Story, De said the outlet records turnover figures that many would find hard to believe.

Reported turnover: ₹2–3 crore per night

“The kind of money in Mumbai is astonishing. One single restaurant in Mumbai has a turnover of ₹2–3 crore a night. On a slow night, it’s ₹2 crore, and on weekends, ₹3 crore,” De said. She added that she visited the restaurant personally after hearing these figures because they seemed unreal.

Expansive 21,000 sq. ft. space with panoramic views

The Dadar outlet is reported to span roughly 21,000 square feet and offers a 360-degree view of the city from its upper levels. “It’s the new Bastian — on the top, massive in size, and you feel like you’re somewhere else altogether,” De remarked.

High footfall and premium clientele

According to De, the restaurant can accommodate up to 1,400 guests a night across two seatings, and a long waiting list lines the road outside. She described a crowd dominated by luxury cars — Lamborghini, Aston Martin — and young diners ordering premium bottles. “I didn’t recognise a single face among 700 diners. They were ordering bottle after bottle of top-shelf tequila — each table was spending lakhs,” she said.

What this means for Mumbai’s dining culture

Bastian’s success in Dadar — an area traditionally known for its Maharashtrian middle-class roots — highlights a changing face of Mumbai’s hospitality scene: consolidated high-volume operations combined with very high per-table spends. The influx of wealthy patrons and luxury vehicles signals a shift in who frequents premium restaurants and where such establishments choose to locate.
