Education Budget in Maharashtra: SIO Demands 20% Increase

Mumbai: The Students Islamic Organization of India (SIO) Maharashtra South Zone has submitted various proposals to the state government for the upcoming budget. The organization has demanded that the Maharashtra government increase the allocated budget for education by at least 20%. These proposals include improvements in higher education, educational standards, and special measures for Muslim and minority students.

Concerns Over Educational Status of the Muslim Community

Even after seven decades of independence, the Muslim community in India remains socially, economically, and educationally backward. Reports from the Mandal Commission (1980), Gopal Singh Committee (1983), Sachar Committee (2006), Kundu Committee (2014), and Dr. Mahmoodur Rahman Committee (2013) have clearly stated that the Muslim community is even more backward than Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST). In light of these findings, the government must take necessary steps.

Key Suggestions by SIO

The Students Islamic Organization of India (SIO) Maharashtra South Zone has submitted various proposals to the state government for the upcoming budget.

SIO’s Appeal
