Women can pray on the rooftop of Masjid al-Haram (Grand Mosque). The rooftop has separate prayer spaces for men and women, so it is open to female worshippers who want to try it.
How to Reach the Rooftop
Gates 66, 84, 90, 91, 92 and 93 are the main access points to the rooftop. The route can change from time to time, so it is best to follow the signs and any instructions given by Haram staff on the day.
Best Time to Visit
The middle of the day is not ideal, since the rooftop is fully exposed to the sun and gets very hot. The period between Asr and Maghrib is a good time to go. Isha is also possible, but with one condition: worshippers already on the rooftop can stay, while new visitors may not be allowed up after Isha begins. First-time visitors should avoid waiting until after Isha to go up.
Zamzam Water on the Rooftop
Zamzam water containers are placed on the rooftop, so worshippers do not need to carry water with them from below.
Wudhu Facilities
Ablution facilities are also available on the rooftop, so those who need to renew their wudhu do not have to go back downstairs.
